Hi, I'm Aliah Marie.
I have been photographing portraits and learning Photoshop since 2016. I'm from Alexandria Minnesota and I love to travel and experience new things. When I'm not taking / editing photos I can be found reading or spending time outdoors (or both). I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family.
Marketing Coordinator by day, photographer by golden hour. I recently received my bachelor's degree and am working full time.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you edit photos?
I use Adobe Photoshop CC to edit all of my images. No yucky filters or presets here! Every image is edited by hand to ensure they are all of the best quality. For portraits I add brightness and details to the eyes. I touch up blemishes and even skin tone. Plus lighting and color corrections. But most of all, I make sure that you stay YOU.
Where are you based and do you travel?
I am based in Alexandria, Minnesota. I shoot at natural outdoor locations, but if you secure an indoor location, I'll be there! And yes, I love to travel! If you want me to photograph your story at a destination further than 30 miles from Alexandria, it will require a travel fee, depending on where it takes place.
When will we get our photos?
Your will receive an online gallery link with all of the final edited photos within minimum 3 weeks (sometimes less depending on the season). Galleries are live on my site for 1 month after delivery. You can download all the photos from the gallery, share them, and choose your favorites!
When should I book my session?
Every season has different characteristics that I LOVE for photos. In spring there is beautiful soft lighting, no bugs, and the prettiest flowers. Early June is ideal if you're looking for flowers.
Summer is great for lake side photos and bright lighting. Sunflowers are up late July.
Fall has the most stunning colors. The peak time for fall colors is late September to early October. Fall is also my busiest month so book in advance to secure your date!
Do i need to pose myself?
Nope! I am experienced in natural posing so you have nothing to worry about. I have prompts and poses for you to feel comfortable and confident! I also bring some chairs for more posing options. Show me your Pinterest board if you're looking for anything in particular! I encourage you to bring any props you'd like to make your photos unique.
What should I wear?
For seniors, I recommend having a bit of a variety. Keep these types of outfits in mind: an everyday look, a more formal style, something fun/trendy, or a uniform for a sport or activity. Layers and accessories are great options to easily switch up your look.
Feel free to bring props like a musical instrument, medals/awards, sport equipment... or your family pet!
For families and groups I recommend coordinating colors that look cohesive but not matching.
If you're still unsure, send me photos and I can help you put something together! Check out my portfolio for some great examples.
What kind of photography do you do?
I mostly do portrait photography but I will also take photos of small groups such as families, couples, and friends. If you're looking for a custom package or something you don't see in my portfolio, message me and we can set something up!
